About Paradise Theatre

“Variety is the spice of Paradise. The opportunity to bring together and present an incredible range of programming, by way of screen and stage, is absolutely thrilling to me. Having collaborated with organizations and individuals across different art forms has further proven just how much talent and passion exists in this city. I’m looking forward to contributing to Toronto’s diverse and fulsome cultural landscape by sharing Paradise’s eclectic line-up of content with the Bloorcourt neighbourhood and beyond.” - Jessica Smith, Director of Programming, Paradise

The lobby sets the mood with antique brass and mirrored ceilings surrounding the centrepiece concessions bar—its design a nod to the city; the island-style bar's brass tubing is shaped to be reminiscent of streetcars.

The 208-seat venue at the heart of Paradise offers the ultimate in comfort and state-of-the-art technology. As noted in the Tech section, both digital cinema and live performance are serviced with leading audio-visual systems working cooperatively in the space.

The ground floor has 182 seats from global seating specialists Figueras, 63 of which can be folded into the floor. The balcony has a fully functioning bar and washrooms, available for patrons at the 22 fixed seats, 12 stools adjacent to high top tables and 56 standing spaces along two catwalks.

Patrons in the 22 fixed balcony seats—plush custom leather couches with built-in side tables—can order service from a concessions and drinks-only in-seat dining menu, which will expand with hot food offerings in 2020.

In keeping with the venue’s history, we will be bringing the theatre back to life by showcasing a curated mix of films, both classic and contemporary. Paradise Theatre will also present an eclectic range of live music performances, talk series, comedy and a variety of other multi-arts events.

Through our own programming and through events planned in partnership with outside cultural organizations, including esteemed film festivals, we will regularly host local talent, both established and emerging, as well as exciting international guests.
