The Social Distancing Weekly - April 17, 2020

The Social Distancing Weekly: April 17, 2020

Paradise has been closed for just over a month now. One month without popcorn popping, cocktails shaking or guiding guests between doors (Bar Biltmore and Osteria Rialto are accessed through the door on Westmoreland Ave, that's a tip for the future)!

It's a pleasure to offer our newsletter during this in-between time. And we've been totally delighted by the positive response to our Pay It Forward initiative for Virtual Paradise Theatre! Read or hear all about it in Now MagazineBox Office Pro and Metro Morning.

Today, we have resources on:

  • Movies at home
  • Move your body
  • Virtual tourism
  • How we support each other
  • Food to your door

Movies at home:

Virtual Paradise Theatre, in support of front-line workers.

When you buy one ticket through Virtual Paradise Theatre, you're also giving two tickets to front-line workers to enjoy a well-deserved escape to Paradise when we re-open. More info.

Beyond the Visible - Hilma af Klint

Hilma af Klint was an abstract artist before the term existed: a trailblazing figure who created huge, colourful works without precedent.

This bonanza compilation reel is usually an in-cinema exclusive. We're delighted to present this 45-minute treat featuring the best of the best.

Aperol Spritz

It's not Paradise without a cocktail. Settle in and recreate the experience at home.

1.5 Aperol
2 oz Sparkling wine
Soda to top
Garnish: Orange half-wheel

Add the first two ingredients to a wine glass over fresh ice and stir to chill. Top with soda and garnish with an orange half wheel. Enjoy!

And we're delighted to continue offering:

Move your body:

An exuberant hour of dance with renowned choreographer Ryan Heffington, set to super-fun pop hits. Join in and let loose, no experience necessary!

Union Yoga

Our neighbours at Union Yoga are offering live-streamed classes and a virtual studio, with subsidized pricing during this time of social distancing.

United Boxing Club

Our other neighbours at United Boxing Club are offering free classes on their Instagram, as well as a paid three-week Fitness Camp via their app!

Virtual tourism:

Sadler's Wells

The world-renowned stage for dance of all kinds is presenting full-length performances and workshops online.

Egyptian Treasures

Egypt's Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities has been posting a daily new video exploring their stunning museums and archaeological sites.

National Palace Museum

It doesn't get more immersive than this 360° virtual tour of Taipei's National Palace Museum.

How we support each other:

Good Neighbour Project

This Facebook group is open to GTA residents who are willing and able to assist with delivering supplies and groceries to those in need.

Keeping Track

Our local city councillor Ana Bailão has compiled a handy (and extensive!) list of community and government support.

How to Clean a Mask

Re-using your face mask(s)? Learn the best practises in their cleaning and care.

Food to your door:

Bondi Produce

Bondi Produce is one of the food distributors for our restaurant Osteria Rialto, and we cannot recommend them highly enough. They've just launched home delivery!

Local health-food store Nuthouse sells a whole lot more than just nuts, and they have a new online shop for delivery or curbside pick-up.

Grape Witch Imports

Event producers and wine gurus, Grape Witches deliver excellent wine to your door from some of the world's best small producers.

Until next week:

Do you love what we do, and look forward to our re-open? There are many ways to support us:

We'll be back with another Social Distancing Weekly next week.

Until then, email with any questions, requests or inspiration. We're all in this together.
