A Star is Born

Part of 7 from '37
Play Trailer

Of all the stars born (Judy Garland, Barbra Streisand, Lady Gaga), Janet Gaynor was the original, playing an aspiring actor-turned superstar opposite Frederich March’s self-sabotaging leading man whose career is quickly losing steam. With a screenplay penned in part by Dorothy Parker, the film won the Oscar for Best Writing, Original Story, and was nominated for seven Academy Awards overall. A Star is Born is delectably dramatic with many artistic flourishes, and one of the first films to be shot in technicolour.
