I've Heard the Mermaids Singing

Play Trailer

Thirty-one-year-old Polly (Sheila McCarthy) is a romantic, absent-minded aspiring photographer who endearingly fumbles through everyday life, trying to reconcile it with her vivid imagination. The debut feature from Patricia Rozema (Mansfield Park, Mouthpiece), who was awarded Cannes’ youth prize for best director, is charmingly playful with dark edges. Polly whimsically flying through misty Toronto skies to classical opera piece Flower Duet is arguably one of the most iconic montages in Canadian cinema.

Patricia Rozema and Sheila McCarthy will be present for a Q&A following the film, in conversation with actor and producer, Melissa D’Agostino.
