Once Were Brothers: Robbie Robertson and the Band

Play Trailer

The Band remains one of the most influential and well-loved bands of the 20th century. This widely acclaimed and compelling doc, which opened TIFF last year, takes Robbie Robertson as its guide. As The Band’s principal songwriter and lead guitarist, Robertson charts the group’s formation, fame, debauchery and break-up while reminiscing about finding his own personal path to music. Inspired by Robertson’s recent memoir, Testimony, the film provides fascinating insights alongside rare footage and interviews with the likes of Bruce Springsteen, Eric Clapton and Martin Scorsese, who exec-produced the film. An essential rock doc for any music lover.
