The Awful Truth

Play Trailer

Irene Dunne and Cary Grant star as Lucy and Jerry Warriner, who are counting the days until their divorce is finalized. Stuck in marital limbo, they each pursue new love interests—while doing everything they can to sabotage the other’s attempts to rebound. The largely improvised dialogue feels shockingly fresh 80 years later and the pace never dips below a sprint as the Warriners race towards the inevitable conclusion: they’re perfect for each other.

“The greatest screwball of them all.”
Molly Haskell, feminist film critic and author
