The Hottest August

Play Trailer

Bloorcourt resident and filmmaker Brett Story (The Prison in Twelve Landscapes, Land of Destiny) spent the record-breaking hot summer of 2018 interviewing New York City residents, covering the prosaic to the political to the philosophical. The result is a hypnotic essay documentary fueled by curiosity, which recalls Chris Marker's Sans Soleil in its outsider observations on place and society. With her unique approach, Story produces an urgent time capsule; a snapshot of our modern times that’s rife with uncertainty, regrets, inequality, abandon, and yet flickers with hope and love, too.

Filmmaker Brett Story will be present for a Q&A following the film.
