UNTUCKED presents SILENCE OF THE LAMBS

UNTUCKED is a new interactive comedy & film series that explores the narratives of transness and identity through film. Hosted by trans comedian Alice Rose, each installation of UNTUCKED will explore a different film, curated for its unique exploration of gender identity, for better or worse. From popular classics to deep cult favourites, from LGBTQ+ heroes to comedic faux-pas, UNTUCKED traces the history of gender exploration through the 20th Century’s most prolific and impactful medium.

No other film perpetuated the stereotype of the gender-deviant villain than the 1991 film The Silence of the Lambs. After more than 30 years, this influential crime thriller has retained the power to unite LGBTQ+ horror fans and conservative transphobes alike in our shared love of serial killers.

Through the story of a woman overcoming a male-dominated workplace, The Silence Of The Lambs weaves themes of gender, lust, and transformation into a wonderfully disturbing composition.

Join us at Paradise Theatre for a viewing of the film that defined an entire genre of women-led crime thrillers and fueled a cultural phenomenon that would echo in transphobic parodies and jokes for years to come. With a stand-up pre-show by me, Alice Rose, as I explore the age old question: would you f*ck me?

Budding FBI agent Clarice Starling (Jodie Foster) is tasked with interviewing the notorious cannibal murderer Hannibal Lecter (Anthony Hopkins) in order to help catch an active serial killer, Buffalo Bill (Ted Levine) who kidnaps and skins young women. In a male-dominated world, Starling must rely on her intuition and intelligence to rescue Buffalo Bill’s latest victim, all while under the oppressive watch of the male gaze.
