A masterpiece of violently operatic excess, John Woo’s final film before departing Hong Kong for Hollywood has him and star Chow Yun-fat firing on all cylinders. We present, to this day, still the greatest action movie ever made: John Woo’s HARD BOILED (1992).

A cop (Chow Yun-fat) who loses his partner in a shoot-out with gun smugglers goes on a mission to catch them. In order to get closer to the leaders of the ring he joins forces with a gangster hitman (Tony Leung Chiu-wai). They use all means of excessive force to find them.
