From May 10th - 18th The historic Paradise Theatre presents FLURRY OF FILTH: A John Waters Retrospective- spanning 35 years of artistic output from the Pope of Trash himself. This week-long descent into celluloid atrocities is presented by Weird Alice of Drag Me to the Movies.

Come see the movie that the Ontario Censor Board so desperately did not want you to see in 1970, so much that they destroyed the official print! It’s as close to the beginning of his career as we can bring you, the kick-off of John Waters’ “Trash Trio”, and the only film officially dubbed “A Celluloid Atrocity”. MULTIPLE MANIACS (1970). It’s his second feature film and his first ever “talkie”. Lady Divine is the owner of a travelling sideshow called ‘The Calvalcade of Perversion’ - a free exhibition of the obscene and the perverse that lures in unwilling audience members and then robs them. When her boyfriend Mr. David (David Lochary) cheats on her and she grows bored of this money-making scheme she takes to murdering the patrons and goes on the lam. This movie was inspired by Herschell Gordon-Lewis, Salvador Dali, the Kuchar Brothers, and LSD, and you’ll never look at a lobster the same way again after viewing. You won’t believe where this film had its world premiere… you’ll just have to come see for yourself.

Our screening of MULTIPLE MANIACS has been generously sponsored by our friends over at Eyesore Cinema! Make sure to bring extra cash to buy your own copies of John Waters films and more in the lobby after the show!
