TORONTO FILM SOCIETY presents ARSENIC AND OLD LACE

ARSENIC AND OLD LACE (1944)

The Paradise is thrilled to partner with the Toronto Film Society to bring classics to the big screen! TFS is one of Canada’s oldest film appreciation groups. It was originally formed to meet the demand for Canadian and international forgotten, banned, independent, and fringe sound and silent films, and to support their preservation and restoration.

Screwball comedy meets the macabre in one of director Frank Capra's most uncharacteristic and entertaining films. When Mortimer Brewster (Cary Grant) discovers his beloved aunts are actually serial killers, it sets off a series of brilliant, darkly comical interludes as Mortimer attempts to keep his family's morbid secret hidden from his innocent fiancée. With Capra's trademark wit, comic timing, and rogues' gallery of memorably eccentric characters, this is a true classic that only gets better with age.
