What happens when a classic body swap comedy wakes up inside the body of a slasher horror? You get a fun-as-hell cross-genre film that delivers equal amounts of campy violence and spoofy horror tropes. All while accidentally touching on a number or relevant trans themes, albeit on a surface level.

The fifth installment of my Untucked series, Freaky is the film selection to pair with an introductory commentary on dysphoria, imposter syndrome, and after nearly ten years of living as a woman, still not understanding much of ‘girl culture’. Because nothing speaks more to my trans experience than waking up one day in the weird pubescent body of a teenage girl.
