Story of a young woman who marries a fascinating widower only to find out that she must live in the shadow of his former wife, Rebecca, who died mysteriously several years earlier. A whirlwind romance with widower Maxim De Winter (Laurence Olivier) brings a young woman (Joan Fontaine) to the imposing estate of Manderley, where the presence of Rebecca, Maxim’s first wife, looms large years after her mysterious death.
