While grappling with an unknown future, an aging dancer struggles to find redemption by rescuing a troubled young man from a life of crime. Clip (Christopher Clare) is a contemporary dancer whose career seems over when his criminal past comes back to haunt him in the form of a young man, Stephan (Shemar Herbert), who is seemingly on the run from cops and criminals alike. With the goons closing in, it seems like there may be no way out for Stephan. And though he is reluctant, Clip is nonetheless determined to help Stephan escape even if it means going back to his old ways. If you’re looking for a run-of-the-mill crime flick, you’ve come to the wrong place. Calgary filmmaker Ramin Eshraghi-Yazdi has a distinct vision for his first feature, and that approach places just as much emphasis on the dance scenes as the chase sequences. With Drop, he engages and challenges the audience with an original take on the crime drama and announces himself as a rising talent. – Richard B Pierre & REELWORLD
