UNTUCKED presents FREAKY

UNTUCKED is a new interactive comedy & film series that explores the narratives of transness and identity through film. Hosted by trans comedian Alice Rose, each installation of UNTUCKED will explore a different film, curated for its unique exploration of gender identity, for better or worse. From popular classics to deep cult favourites, from LGBTQ+ heroes to comedic faux-pas, UNTUCKED traces the history of gender exploration through the 20th Century’s most prolific and impactful medium.

What happens when a classic body swap comedy wakes up inside the body of a slasher horror? You get a fun-as-hell cross-genre film that delivers equal amounts of campy violence and spoofy horror tropes. All while accidentally touching on a number or relevant trans themes, albeit on a surface level.

The fifth installment of my Untucked series, Freaky is the film selection to pair with an introductory commentary on dysphoria, imposter syndrome, and after nearly ten years of living as a woman, still not understanding much of 'girl culture'. Because nothing speaks more to my trans experience than waking up one day in the weird pubescent body of a teenage girl.Join me, comedian Alice Rose, for a one-night-only screening of this refreshing spin on two of my favourite film genres.
