The rise and inevitable fall of an amoral but naive young woman whose insouciant eroticism inspires lust and violence in those around her.

A Masterpiece steeped in eroticism, greed and violence. This 4K restoration brings back the full power, beauty and presence of this disruptive, sensationally timeless representation of female sexuality and irresistible desire. The immense impact of Louise Brooks’ magnetism as Lulu, the fiery, brash showgirl, both driven by her desires and exploited for them puts her at the centre of a destructive vortex, one that eventually pulls her into a downward spiral.

Pandora’s Box is rightly celebrated as one of silent cinema’s greatest works. Brilliantly directed by G. W. Pabst, its dark beauty is filled with meticulous detail, fluid camera work, expressive lighting, and, of course, the potent performance by Louise Brooks. -TORONTO SILENT FILM FESTIVAL
