Reelworld: Shorts Program- Grief

Grief. The word carries weight. It feels all-encompassing and scary, forcing us to consider what kind of past preceded its use—because, after all, there is no grief without loss.
Within grief, we often find melancholy, anger, and fear—big emotions that are easy to suppress.
The seven films in this program invite you to hurt with them—and to be seen in doing so. To cry. To question. To smile. Maybe even laugh. To be brave, and face the enormity of the human condition.
Whether grieving a death, a relationship, a place, a way of thinking, a period of time, or an alternate version of the future—these films explore the vast spectrum of grief, and they do so boldly and uniquely.
They remind us that, like loss, bravery exists only in the face of something daunting. There is no courage without fear. These filmmakers ask us to feel deeply—and in doing so, show us what it means to be brave. -REELWORLD
